The Banff International Research Station will host the “MJO Predictability: Its Sources and Limits” workshop in Banff from May 25 - 30, 2025.
Unlocking the Secrets of Environmental Prediction: Workshop Targets the Heart of Predictability of the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO). International experts gather to delve deep into the core of environmental prediction, focusing on the essence of MJO predictability. Because of its critical role in modulating global weather and in improving forecasts ranging from two weeks to three months, understanding MJO predictability is vital.
The Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) is a collaborative Canada-US-Mexico venture that provides an environment for creative interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disciplines and with industry. The research station is located at The Banff Centre in Alberta and is supported by Canada’s Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), and Alberta’s Advanced Education and Technology.
