Description

The Casa Matemática Oaxaca (CMO) will host the "Mathematics of Deep Learning" workshop in Oaxaca, from June 9 to June 14, 2024.

Recent advances in machine learning and artificial intelligence have led to many disruptive technologies: from automatic speech recognition systems such as Apple Siri, to automated supermarkets such as Amazon Go, to autonomous vehicles such as Google Car. The mathematical analysis of the properties of these methods is critical to ensure that the resulting technologies make predictions that are accurate, safe and interpretable to humans. This workshop brings together a diverse group of experts to interact and develop novel mathematical approaches for understanding the properties of deep learning methods.

The Casa Matemática Oaxaca (CMO) in Mexico, and the Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) in Banff, are collaborative Canada-US-Mexico ventures that provide an environment for creative interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disciplines and with industry. The research station in Banff is supported by Canada's Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) and Alberta's Advanced Education and Technology. The research station in Oaxaca is funded by Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).
