My participation in the BIRS workshop certainly impacted my current research or a field of study you are familiar with. I got some new contacts I would not have had otherwise. I got some new collaborations or papers that originated during the workshop. I must say that the workshop affected my job prospects, my students, and my postdoc. Of course, it influenced some hiring decisions I was involved in. The workshop also has some other impact on my favourite scientific discipline.
