Participant Testimonials

May 28 - Jun 02, 2023

My participation impacted my current research. In particular, I got ideas to answer a question of one of my incoming papers, and I found out about projects from people at the conference that were very related to mine.

It was so great to have an in-person workshop again. There was so much dynamic interaction and spontaneous discussions between participants, that really cannot be replicated in a virtual environment. In particular, the three afternoon problem sessions produced a lot of interesting new ideas, and (at least in my case) sparked a couple of exciting new research collaborations.

The workshop provided a lively and stimulating environment where I learned a lot, particularly about the research directions of the early career academics in the field, which was especially exciting. The research talks and problem sessions, as well as the informal interactions, definitely helped me make progress on my research and inspired me to consider new research directions. In particular, I am at the early stages of a new research collaboration as a direct result of the workshop. Making the focus of the workshop on the new generation of researchers and giving so many PhD students and postdocs the platform to present their work, as well as providing a refreshing change from the majority of academic activities, will surely have a great impact on their future careers.
