Description

The Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics will host the "Nonlocal Problems in Mathematical Physics, Analysis and Geometry" workshop in Hangzhou, China from September 4 to September 9, 2022.

Nonlinear problems are problems which solutions satisfy an equation where the different physical constants involved are depending on the solution itself. This dependence can be nonlocal in the sense that it depends on the solution globally. For instance the motion of a population can be influenced by the total population and not only by the population very locally. One of the goals of the workshop is to deepen the human knowledge in this field applied to different situations.

The Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (IASM) in Hangzhou, China, and the Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) in Banff, are collaborative Canada-US-Mexico ventures that provide an environment for creative interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disciplines and with industry. The research station in Banff is supported by Canada's Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), Alberta's Advanced Education and Technology, and Mexico's Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT).
