Description

The Banff International Research Station will host the "Topological Methods in Model Theory" workshop in Banff from Sunday June 12 to Sunday June 19, 2016.

This project will focus on several problems on the interface between logic and topology (specifically between model theory and set-theoretic topology), and it will bring together researchers who work at the intersection of these fields. This is a research direction that has been expanding rapidly in recent years due to its applicability in different areas of mathematics, and where the participants of this research group have made significant contributions. The participants are currently engaged in several projects; however, a stage has been reached where face-to-face communication will be invaluable, and the BIRS Focused Research Group program will provide an excellent environment for collective efforts.

The Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) is a collaborative Canada-US-Mexico venture that provides an environment for creative interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disciplines and with industry. The research station is located at The Banff Centre in Alberta and is supported by Canada's Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), Alberta's Advanced Education and Technology, and Mexico's Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT).
