Description
The Banff International Research Station will host the "Vertex Algebras and Quantum Groups" workshop from February 7th to February 12th, 2016.
Vertex algebras and quantum groups are two important areas of mathematical research with numerous connections to many areas of mathematics and physics. The quantum vertex algebras are deformations of vertex algebras just as quantum groups are deformations of Kac-Moody algebras. There are other important links between the two subjects which are visible after we pass to the level of categories of modules. In the proposed workshop, many of the leading international experts in these two areas will gather and exchange ideas for the development of the theory of quantum vertex algebras and other links between the two subjects.
The Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) is a collaborative Canada-US-Mexico venture that provides
an environment for creative interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disc
iplines and with industry. The research station is located at The Banff Centre in Alberta and is supported by Canada's Natural Science and Engineeri
ng Research Council (NSERC), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), Alberta's Advanced Education and Technology, and Mexico's Consejo Nacional
de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT).
